Why we have a uniform
Uniform settles the question of what to wear before it is asked, and it means nobody is judged in the playground on what their family can afford. We keep it simple and we keep it inexpensive.
Almost everything can be bought from a supermarket or a high street shop. Only three things come through the school: the badge, the PE shirt and the winter hoody.
All pupils are expected to attend school in the correct uniform.

Everyday uniform
Jumper colour changes as a child moves through the school, so you can tell at a glance which phase a pupil is in.

The list is the same for every phase. Only the jumper colour changes.

Please name everything. All of it, including coats and shoes.
The school badge
The sweatshirt or cardigan can come from anywhere, in the right colour, with the school badge sewn onto it.
Badges cost £3.50 and are bought from the school office. You will need one for each jumper or cardigan.
We do it this way deliberately. An embroidered jumper from a uniform supplier costs several times what a supermarket one costs, and children grow out of them. A badge and ten minutes with a needle keeps the cost down.

Bags and equipment
Younger pupils
A small rucksack is all that is needed.
We are a nut-free school, and all pupils bring a packed lunch from home.
From Year 7
Pupils move to subject teaching and carry more between lessons, so they will need:
- A larger rucksack, big enough for exercise books and folders
- A pencil case with a range of equipment
- A scientific calculator
Hair, jewellery and make-up
Hair
Pupils’ hair should be smart and tidy. Pupils with long hair should wear it off the face and tied back in science and PE lessons.
No extreme hairstyles are permitted — for example shaved lines or patterns, or hair shaved completely. Pupils are not permitted to dye their hair or wear hair extensions, other than as set out below.
We acknowledge that Afro-textured hair is an important part of our Black pupils’ racial, ethnic, cultural and religious identities, and requires specific styling for hair health and maintenance. We celebrate Afro-textured hair worn in all styles including, but not limited to, afros, twists, braids, cornrows, extensions, and hair straightened through the application of heat or chemicals.
All accessories must be navy blue or black. No beads. Extensions should be the pupil’s natural hair colour, and there should not be a significant change in length.
No facial hair, other than for religious reasons.
Jewellery
A watch, but not a smart watch. Small stud earrings are permitted. No other jewellery.
Make-up
Pupils must not come to school wearing make-up.

If uniform is a struggle
We do not run a second-hand uniform scheme at present.
If buying uniform is difficult, speak to the school. It is a private conversation, it will be dealt with quietly, and it is far better than a child coming in without what they need.
